Public Events

The Long Hill Estate Authority and the Friends of Long Hill sponsor events at the Wadsworth Mansion throughout the year for the enjoyment of the public. Please join us as many of these events are free and created for family enjoyment. Additionally our trails are open from sunrise to sunset. For additional information about any of these events, please call 860-347-1064.


Friends of Long Hill Tea

Sunday, March 20th, 2022 –  $35 p/person. 

Participants will be treated to a three course tea menu prepared by Kim’s Cottage Confections and Tea Roses exclusively blended Tea Blend. Additional details coming soon.

Wadsworth Mansion Wedding Show

Sunday, March 27th, 2022. 11:00AM – 3:00PM, $10 per person – must pre-register to attend.
The Wedding Show has been designed to inspire brides plan their special day. There will be a variety of vendors, each of whom have worked at Long Hill and are familiar with designing unique weddings in the historical building. There will be caterers, florists, photographers, rental companies, wedding cake bakers, as well as vendors who specialize in party favors and invitations, make-up, and hotel accommodations in the area.


Daffodil Day

Sunday, April 24th, 2022 – 12pm to 3pm, FREE

Join us for Daffodil Day at the Wadsworth Mansion! We are hosting a day of safe, outdoor nature activities with Everyone Outside, food trucks, and a self run scavenger hunt.  Attendees are invited to explore the grounds and the vernal pool, participate in outdoor activities, enjoy food from a participating food truck, visit our daffodils that will (hopefully) be in bloom, and celebrate the beginning of spring!


Music at the Mansion

Each Wednesday in July, the Wadsworth Mansion will open at 5:30 p.m. for picnicking, and shows on the Mansion’s back lawn will begin at 6:30 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public however, donations are accepted and appreciated.  Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnics or enjoy delicious food from a participating food truck.


Open Air Market & Festival

Sunday, August 28th 2022 – 10:00am to 4:00pm, FREE

The historic Mansion will transform its 700 foot vista into a marketplace and festival where a variety of vendors will gather to sell their Connecticut grown or made products. One can stroll from tent to tent purchasing fresh produce, fruit, cheese, breads and prepared foods. Local artisans, such as potters, painters, and jewelers have been invited to sell their work. Visitors will be encouraged to lounge on the lawn with lunch and listen to live music performed on the patio. Families can bring their children and spend the day. It will be a day to discover the Wadsworth Mansion, enjoy music and art, and experience the tradition of shopping at an open-air market.

Haunted Halloween Bash

Friday, October 28, 2022 – Tickets will go on sale September 16th!

The Mansion welcomes all ghosts and ghouls to join in a celebration of All Hallows Eve.  Dress in costume to disguise your identity for a night of food, dancing, and thrills.   Ages 21 and older only.

The Mansion is excited to welcome Ballet Hartford for an intimate performance of a classic holiday favorite. This is a condensed version of the classic ballet that features a combination of dance, dialogue, and narration to tell the story of Clara and the Nutcracker. Join us for crafts, cookies, cocoa, a performance, and a special meet and greet with the principal dancers!


Holiday Bazaar

Expect to find unique holiday gifts for your family and friends. Featured vendors from the Open Air Market will be selling their handmade products.

The Wadsworth Mansion presents the East Haddam Stage Company in a production of A Christmas Carol. Join us for an immersive, theatrical adaptation that will bring the history of the Wadsworth Mansion to life. This is a family friendly performance of the classic tale as you’ve never seen before!

The Friends of Long Hill Estate host an Open House for the New Year. Join us for historic docent tours, carriage rides, live music, and more!

Wednesday Historical Tours


Every Wednesday from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, the Wadsworth Mansion is open for tours. Docents from the Friends of Long Hill Estate lead guided tours of the Mansion, providing a narrative that details the history of the Estate and the five million dollar renovation. Furniture donated by the Wadsworth Family is on display in the History Room. Please call to confirm tours are being held. Large groups and bus tours, please call ahead.


The Friends of Long Hill Estate are looking for volunteers to tell the Wadsworth Mansion story.  If you are interested in becoming a docent please contact Megan Bush 860 347 1064.

Spot of Tea & Tour


On the second Wednesday of every month, the docents will sweeten their accounts of the Wadsworth family story with some dainty goodies and a cup of tea. The “Spot of Tea & Tour” will be served in the Mansion’s fabled tradition of hospitality and will be offered between 2:00 – 3:00pm. A $5 per person donation is appreciated. Please call to make a reservation at 860-347-1064.

The “Spot of Tea & Tour” is not available during the months of July and August.



The trails surrounding the Wadsworth Mansion are open to the public daily between sunrise and sunset. Certain areas may be off limits if there is an event at the Mansion. Take only pictures, leave only footprints.
