
Music at the Mansion
The Friends of Long Hill Estate and the Long Hill Estate Authority are excited to host their Music at the Mansion series again this year. All of the concerts will begin at 6:30pm. The grounds will be open for food trucks and picnicking at 5:30pm.
The 2023 Concert Schedule is as follows:
June 28th – Eight to the Bar
July 5th – Sister Funk
July 12th – Hartford Jazz Orchestra
July 19th – 4ever Foreigner
July 26th – The Cartells
Parking will be at Wilbert Snow School, 299 Wadsworth Street, and at Mercy High School, 1740 Randolph Road. The Mansion parking is reserved for handicap guests only. As there is limited parking at the Mansion, ALL vehicles will be directed to Mercy High School/Snow School when Mansion parking is full. The most convenient parking is located at Mercy High School. Concerts will be held in light rain, but cancelled with the proximity of electrical storms that may endanger both guests and musicians.
Enjoy food from a rotating list of participating food trucks to include Frank’s Woodfired Pizza, Skyscraper Sandwich Truck, Joannz Eatz, Scatz Holy Smokes BBQ, and Cake Batter and Roll . We are also excited to welcome back Vicchetto’s Italian Ice who will be selling their sweet treats at all of our concerts! You may also bring a picnic dinner if you wish!
Please note that the Mansion is closed during the concerts. There are port-o-potty’s located on the west side of the lawn by the garage and at the rear of the overflow parking lot. There is a 10 minute intermission and the Mansion grounds close 30 minutes after the conclusion of the concert.
The fun starts off with Eight to the Bar. Drawing its musical influences from American roots music — swing, boogie-woogie, and Motown, Eight to the Bar is known for its outstanding instrumentalists and sophisticated musical and vocal arrangements, highlighted by female vocals. With the support of independently produced CDs and videos, Eight to the Bar has cultivated a large, enthusiastic following that has put them in clubs from Maine to Miami as well as Europe and the Caribbean.
On July 5th we welcome Sister Funk. Sister Funk, the nation’s hottest all-female band brings a high energy, entertaining stage show to a growing national following. They are a rock-country, folk-pop band based out of New Haven, CT who has been sharing national stages with acts like: Mellissa Etheridge, B52s, Foreigner, ZZ Top for close to 20 years. Sister Funk has been headlining concert arenas, clubs and music festivals playing tracks off of their 3 independent CD releases. Sister Funk’s music is best described as commercial pop/rock, similar in sound & style to artists like Pink & Maroon Five.
Hartford Jazz Orchestra will be performing on July 12th. In April 2022, the HJO began its current era, performing weekly at Elicit Brewing in Manchester, CT. While continuing to honor its past, the band is committed to moving forward artistically and pushing musical boundaries. Its members are some of the foremost jazz artists and music educators in New England. Former Maynard Ferguson musical director and pianist, Earl MacDonald succeeded Trenner, and contributes fresh, contemporary arrangements. The future looks bright! The band is making plans to record their first album.
4ever Foreigner will perform for the first time at our music series on July 19th. As professional, seasoned stage musicians from CT, & 4ever Foreigner Band strives to deliver to all audiences not only a rock ‘in memorable show but also an accurate throwback experience showcasing the music of rock idols Lou Gramm, Mick Jones and the band FOREIGNER. 4ever Foreigner Band has entertained and delighted hundreds of people at concerts, corporate events galas, festivals, & private parties along with a theme wedding or two.
Our summer concert series will close out with The Cartells on July 26th. A band transcending the boundaries of style and able to adapt to virtually any performance situation, The Cartells have built a reputation for being the band of choice for concerts, nightclubs, & private functions of all kinds, and is one of the most popular bands in Connecticut. Jazz, swing, Motown, R&B, rock and roll, popular music of all styles are equally represented in their impressive repertoire, and their dedication to defining and fulfilling the wants & needs of their audience results in every appearance being an event to remember.
