Each Wednesday in July, the Wadsworth Mansion will open at 5:30 p.m. for picnicking, and shows on the Mansion’s back lawn will begin at 6:30 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public however, donations are accepted and appreciated. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnics or enjoy delicious food from a participating food truck.
Sunday, August 29th 2021 – 10:00am to 4:00pm, FREE
The historic Mansion will transform its 700 foot vista into a marketplace and festival where a variety of vendors will gather to sell their Connecticut grown or made products. One can stroll from tent to tent purchasing fresh produce, fruit, cheese, breads and prepared foods. Local artisans, such as potters, painters, and jewelers have been invited to sell their work. Visitors will be encouraged to lounge on the lawn with lunch and listen to live music performed on the patio. Families can bring their children and spend the day. It will be a day to discover the Wadsworth Mansion, enjoy music and art, and experience the tradition of shopping at an open-air market.
Due to our incredibly busy private event schedule, we will not be hosting the Bash this year. Mark your calendar for 10/28/22 when we return spookier than ever!
The Mansion welcomes all ghosts and ghouls to join in a celebration of All Hallows Eve. Dress in costume to disguise your identity for a night of food, dancing, and thrills. Ages 21 and older only.

Participants will be treated to a three course tea menu prepared by Kim’s Cottage Confections and Tea Roses exclusively blended Tea Blend while a virtual tea party with Katharine Wadsworth guides guests through a formal tea experience as once was hosted in our grand halls. Attendees are invited to decorate a table at home to join in the festivities. Tickets include a carefully pre-packaged three course menu and the virtual experience, and a raffle ticket for a chance to win free admission to next year’s tea. There are optional add-on’s such as signature drinks, cookie and more.

The Wedding Show has been designed to inspire brides plan their special day. There will be a variety of vendors, each of whom have worked at Long Hill and are familiar with designing unique weddings in the historical building. There will be caterers, florists, photographers, rental companies, wedding cake bakers, as well as vendors who specialize in party favors and invitations, make-up, and hotel accommodations in the area.

Join us for Daffodil Day at the Wadsworth Mansion! We are hosting a day of safe, outdoor nature activities with Everyone Outside, food trucks, and a self run scavenger hunt. Attendees are invited to explore the grounds and the vernal pool, participate in outdoor activities, enjoy food from a participating food truck, visit our daffodils that will (hopefully) be in bloom, and celebrate the beginning of spring!
Every Wednesday from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, the Wadsworth Mansion is open for tours. Docents from the Friends of Long Hill Estate lead guided tours of the Mansion, providing a narrative that details the history of the Estate and the five million dollar renovation. Furniture donated by the Wadsworth Family is on display in the History Room. Please call to confirm tours are being held. Large groups and bus tours, please call ahead.
The Friends of Long Hill Estate are looking for volunteers to tell the Wadsworth Mansion story. If you are interested in becoming a docent please contact Megan Bush 860 347 1064.
On the second Wednesday of every month, the docents will sweeten their accounts of the Wadsworth family story with some dainty goodies and a cup of tea. The “Spot of Tea & Tour” will be served in the Mansion’s fabled tradition of hospitality and will be offered between 2:00 – 3:00pm. A $5 per person donation is appreciated. The “Spot of Tea & Tour” is not available during the months of July and August.
The trails surrounding the Wadsworth Mansion are open to the public daily between sunrise and sunset. Certain areas may be off limits if there is an event at the Mansion. Take only pictures, leave only footprints.
