Each Wednesday in July, the Wadsworth Mansion will open at 5:30 p.m. for picnicking, and shows on the Mansion’s back lawn will begin at 6:30 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public however, donations are accepted and appreciated. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnics or enjoy delicious food from a participating food truck.

The historic Mansion will transform its 700 foot vista into a marketplace and festival where a variety of vendors will gather to sell their Connecticut grown or made products. One can stroll from tent to tent purchasing fresh produce, fruit, cheese, breads and prepared foods. Local artisans, such as potters, painters, and jewelers have been invited to sell their work. Visitors will be encouraged to lounge on the lawn with lunch and listen to live music performed on the patio. Families can bring their children and spend the day. It will be a day to discover the Wadsworth Mansion, enjoy music and art, and experience the tradition of shopping at an open-air market.
There are limited spaces available for the 2019 Open Air Market.

The Mansion transforms into the residence of two personalities in one body; Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Enter into the grand home of Dr. Jekyll but be on the lookout for his dangerous counterpart, Mr. Hyde. Dress in costume to disguise your identity for a night of food, dancing, and thrills. Ages 21 and older only.

The Mansion celebrates its 20th year of celebrations by bringing the Golden Age of the 1920’s into 2020. Since it’s grand re-opening on December 31st 1999, the Mansion has been host to over a thousand celebrations. We are kicking off the start of our 20th year with the party of the century. In the style of Gatsby and his grand receptions, ring in the new decade with a celebration not to be missed! Cocktails, dining, dancing, and incredible entertainment. Join us!

The Wedding Show has been designed to inspire brides plan their special day. There will be a variety of vendors, each of whom have worked at Long Hill and are familiar with designing unique weddings in the historical building. There will be caterers, florists, photographers, rental companies, wedding cake bakers, as well as vendors who specialize in party favors and invitations, make-up, and hotel accommodations in the area.

Guests at the Wadsworth Mansion will be treated to a three course tea menu prepared by Kim’s Cottage Confections and estate tea from The Green Room in the East and West ballrooms, where Clarence and Katharine Wadsworth frequently hosted their own lavish parties. Each table will be personally set and decorated by members of the Friends of Long Hill. Invited vendors will be selling unique items in the loggia.
Seating is limited; reservations can be made by contacting the Wadsworth Mansion at Long Hill Estate, at 860-347-1064. Checks should be made payable to Friends of Long Hill and sent to 421 Wadsworth Street, Middletown, CT 06457.

A plethora of daffodils might be in bloom to greet visitors as they follow the entrance drive leading to the Beaux Art style mansion for this annual celebration of spring. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the meadows planted by volunteers over the last decade. Throughout the afternoon, there will be numerous activities that include kite flying, nature exploration, live music, and a Raptor presentation from A Place Called Hope, LLC. Enjoy delicious food from a variety of food trucks in the oval. Docents will lead guided tours of the Mansion providing a narrative that details the history of the Estate. Furniture donated by the Wadsworth Family will be on display in the History Room.
Every Wednesday from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, the Wadsworth Mansion is open for tours. Docents from the Friends of Long Hill Estate lead guided tours of the Mansion, providing a narrative that details the history of the Estate and the five million dollar renovation. Furniture donated by the Wadsworth Family is on display in the History Room. Please call to confirm tours are being held. Large groups and bus tours, please call ahead.
The Friends of Long Hill Estate are looking for volunteers to tell the Wadsworth Mansion story. If you are interested in becoming a docent please contact Deborah Moore 860 347 1064.
On the second Wednesday of every month, the docents will sweeten their accounts of the Wadsworth family story with some dainty goodies and a cup of tea. The “Spot of Tea & Tour” will be served in the Mansion’s fabled tradition of hospitality and will be offered between 2:00 – 3:00pm. A $5 per person donation is appreciated. The “Spot of Tea & Tour” is not available during the months of July and August.
The trails surrounding the Wadsworth Mansion are open to the public daily between sunrise and sunset. Certain areas may be off limits if there is an event at the Mansion. Take only pictures, leave only footprints.
