Join us for our first ever virtual Daffodil Days at the Wadsworth Mansion! In these unprecedented times, we are doing our part in the ongoing effort of social distancing by moving our annual Daffodil Day event to a virtual month of activities! We are excited to welcome life coach Anne Jolles to the Mansion for an afternoon of reflection and inspiration. Lunch will be served followed by a keynote address by Anne that introduces attendees to the Grace Trail. Immediately after, guests will be invited outside to walk their own Grace Trail, getting the most out of this life-changing process.

Each Wednesday in July, the Wadsworth Mansion will open at 5:30 p.m. for picnicking, and shows on the Mansion’s back lawn will begin at 6:30 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public however, donations are accepted and appreciated. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnics or enjoy delicious food from a participating food truck.

The historic Mansion will transform its 700 foot vista into a marketplace and festival where a variety of vendors will gather to sell their Connecticut grown or made products. One can stroll from tent to tent purchasing fresh produce, fruit, cheese, breads and prepared foods. Local artisans, such as potters, painters, and jewelers have been invited to sell their work. Visitors will be encouraged to lounge on the lawn with lunch and listen to live music performed on the patio. Families can bring their children and spend the day. It will be a day to discover the Wadsworth Mansion, enjoy music and art, and experience the tradition of shopping at an open-air market.

The Wedding Show has been designed to inspire brides plan their special day. There will be a variety of vendors, each of whom have worked at Long Hill and are familiar with designing unique weddings in the historical building. There will be caterers, florists, photographers, rental companies, wedding cake bakers, as well as vendors who specialize in party favors and invitations, make-up, and hotel accommodations in the area.
Sunday, March 29th, 2020 1:00PM – 4:00PM, $35 per person This years tea has been cancelled in an abundance of caution over the COVID-19 crisis. Stay tuned for a formal announcement from the Tea Committee.
Guests at the Wadsworth Mansion will be treated to a three course tea menu prepared by Kim’s Cottage Confections and estate tea from The Green Room in the East and West ballrooms, where Clarence and Katharine Wadsworth frequently hosted their own lavish parties. Each table will be personally set and decorated by members of the Friends of Long Hill. Invited vendors will be selling unique items in the loggia.
There are no open seats remaining for this years tea. If you have been invited to join the table of a hostess; checks should be made payable to Friends of Long Hill and sent to 421 Wadsworth Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
Every Wednesday from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, the Wadsworth Mansion is open for tours. Docents from the Friends of Long Hill Estate lead guided tours of the Mansion, providing a narrative that details the history of the Estate and the five million dollar renovation. Furniture donated by the Wadsworth Family is on display in the History Room. Please call to confirm tours are being held. Large groups and bus tours, please call ahead.
The Friends of Long Hill Estate are looking for volunteers to tell the Wadsworth Mansion story. If you are interested in becoming a docent please contact Deborah Moore 860 347 1064.
On the second Wednesday of every month, the docents will sweeten their accounts of the Wadsworth family story with some dainty goodies and a cup of tea. The “Spot of Tea & Tour” will be served in the Mansion’s fabled tradition of hospitality and will be offered between 2:00 – 3:00pm. A $5 per person donation is appreciated. The “Spot of Tea & Tour” is not available during the months of July and August.
The trails surrounding the Wadsworth Mansion are open to the public daily between sunrise and sunset. Certain areas may be off limits if there is an event at the Mansion. Take only pictures, leave only footprints.
