Featured Wedding: Melissa and Robertson 2/14/15

Love was truly in the air at the Mansion on Valentines Day last year for Melissa and Robertson.  Melissa used the Mansion space in a creative and unique way by selecting a different theme/color scheme for each space.  The East ballroom was a red lounge room for the guests to mingle, the West ballroom was all white for a romantic dining experience, and the ceremony took place in the loggia with a warm pink glow. We loved the ceremony arbor with draping white fabric, candles, and rose petals.  The chairs for the ceremony were accented with rhinestone and pink ribbons.  They were surrounded by loving friends and family and it was truly a beautiful sight.

The couple loved the snow, and there was plenty on hand for them. They were so excited to go outdoors and take some beautiful pictures, even in the freezing cold they were so happy and in love!  Melissa insisted on going out to the terrace for that shot of them in the snow and then said “now you have an epic winter wedding shot for your books!” That we do! It was such a pleasure being able to celebrate with them.

Roberson owns an pasta sauce business called Michaud’s Pasta Sauce. As favors, they provided each guest with a can of sauce and bow tie pasta as a symbol of them “tying the knot”.

Featured Wedding: Kara and Kevin 10/19/14

One of the great things about a Wadsworth Mansion wedding is that no two are the same.  Kara and Kevin were such a fun, colorful couple with great ideas and little personal touches that transformed this mansion into the perfect setting for their day.  A lego Coast Guard ship as a nod to their connection of the Coast Guard with a rubber duck bride a groom that what greeted guests as they arrived. Vibrant hues of blue and purple were used all over the mansion to bring Karas flair of color into our neutral interior. A wonderful time was had by all as the happy couple were surrounded by friends and loved ones. We are so happy that they decided to share the day with us!

Featured Wedding: Kelsey and Andrew 12/13/14

We are in the spirit of the holidays and thought it would be nice to share something merry and bright with all of you.  Kelsey and Andrews wedding is the perfect way to do that! They picked a very cool date for their wedding… the last sequential date of the 21st century!  With such a memorable date for a wedding, the celebration had to live up to its reputation.  And it sure did!

The mansion was all decked out in holiday decor which Kelsey was happy to incorporate into her wedding.  We don’t see many winter weddings here at the mansion but when we do, we wonder why there aren’t more.  What is more romantic than an intimate gathering with family and friends at a beautiful historic house with roaring fireplaces, twinkling lights, the glow of candlelight, and a newly married couple cozying up on the dance floor?  They had some wonderful winter touches with a hot chocolate bar, personalized Christmas ornaments as guest favors, and a beautiful color palette of whites, golds, gray, and creams to accent the decor that surrounded them.

The couple was married in Clinton, CT and took photos in the surrounding areas before arriving at the mansion for their evening reception of cocktails, dancing, and merriment.  The day was beautifully photographed by Ashley Caroline Photography and catered by David Alan Catering.  Enjoy a glimpse into the lovely details of a winter wedding at the Wadsworth Mansion.  Congratulations to the happy couple!  We were so honored to share in the joy of your day.

Featured Wedding: Anna and Jimmy 9/13/14

September is one of our favorite months for weddings at the mansion.  The Hydrangeas begin to blush from the changing of the season and the weather is almost always perfect.  Anna and Jimmy had a beautiful celebration where they were able to take advantage of our beautiful surroundings before the rain arrived and then (as we all know how New England weather can be) when the rain stopped, went back out for more photos!

Before heading off to their ceremony at the beautiful St. Sebastian Church that is located right down the road from us, they had their first look out in our Tennis Pavilion.  They wandered around the property to pose in our stunning treelines and down to the bridge by our vernal pool.  We love how they incorporated our natural surroundings into their photos as both are avid hikers and nature enthusiasts.

The day was beautifully captured by Uplift Photography and we are happy to share these photos with all of you!

Congratulations to the happy couple!  Thank you for hosting your wedding at the Wadsworth Mansion!

Featured Wedding: Dana and Anthony 7/27/14

Dana and Anthony exchanged vows in our Tennis Pavilion on a beautiful Sunday in late July.  It was a wonderful, colorful wedding celebrated by a fantastic group of family and friends.  We loved the vibrant colors Dana chose that really showcased how the neutral white of the mansion and the lush greens of our sprawling vista compliments whatever color palate a bride selects.  Congratulations to Dana and Anthony on the beginning of a beautiful life together!  Thank you for sharing your special day with us.  We wish you all the best.

Featured Wedding – Lauren and Nelson 5/10/14

Lauren and Nelson were married on a typical New England spring day.  We were watching the rain clouds move through the state and hoped they would pass before the bride and groom arrived from their church ceremony.  As luck would have it, the rain let up in time for the newlyweds to take some beautiful couple photos on the terrace.  Lauren and Nelson, with the assistance of Christina from Celebrations by Christina, planned a beautiful celebration for their family and friends with delicious food served by Riverhouse Catering, Flowers by Designed to Order and a delicious cake by Cakes by Donna.  Everything was spectacularly captured by Sweet Monday Photography.  Congratulations to the happy couple!
