joy and brian

Featured Wedding: Joy and Brian, May 23, 2015

Joy was one of those brides who knew what she wanted. She came to tour the Mansion, loved it, and booked us (and her caterer) practically on the spot!  On the day of her wedding she was exactly as her name, so joyful and excited to marry Brian. This lovely couple had a beautiful ceremony on our vista on a bright and sunny May day.

Her color scheme was pinks of all shades, corals, oranges, and white. The colors were represented in the rose petals on the aisle, in the bouquets her girls carried, and in the place setting on the tables. She also had some really fun personal touches like a special draft beer as a favor for every guest, and a pizza bar for a late night snack.  Yum!  Congratulations to the happy couple!

Featured Wedding: Vivian and Jonathan, June 27th

This is one of those weddings that proves regardless of the weather, a Wadsworth Mansion event always comes together beautifully. Viviane and Jonathan had an international love story which took them on adventures all over the world so naturally, they incorporated this theme into their day. From the luggage tags as escort cards and favors to the cupcake/ dessert table that was set up with vintage suitcases, there were perfect touches all around that celebrated where they’ve travelled to the place they said “I Do”!

The ceremony took place in the East Ballroom but the rain held off long enough for the couple to take some amazing photos in our tree line at the back of the mansion. Congratulations to Viviane and Jonathan!  May your life take you on many amazing adventures together!

Old Hollywood Glam Photo Shoot at The Wadsworth Mansion

Beautiful Old Hollywood Photo shoot, set on the grounds of the Wadsworth Mansion.

Even on a chilly day in April, with rain in the forecast this photo shoot was bound to be amazing. With the colors, the design, and the setting, the shoot was both exciting and inspirational.

Beginning with a color scheme of Gold, Black and Purple the scene was set by Stephanie Carmody of Tres Chic Events.  With a mix of Old Hollywood elegance and classic touches, every element of this shoot was a perfect compliment to the mansion and grounds.   Dining was staged among the trees where the beauty of nature meets sophistication. The tablescape was accentuated with a suspended chandelier of purple flowers and bouquets by Dragonfly Event. Gold chargers and glassware brought dimension to the display.

The bride exuded elegance in a lace gown that blended flawlessly with the Beaux Art style of the mansion and Dana Bartone and Company gave her the classic Hollywood look. We love it when talented vendors come together to create new and stunningly unique ideas in this space.

We were thrilled to  have this photo shoot take place at the mansion.  It was originally featured on Reverie Gallery and now we are happy share it with all of our readers, enjoy!

Featured Wedding: Melissa and Robertson 2/14/15

Love was truly in the air at the Mansion on Valentines Day last year for Melissa and Robertson.  Melissa used the Mansion space in a creative and unique way by selecting a different theme/color scheme for each space.  The East ballroom was a red lounge room for the guests to mingle, the West ballroom was all white for a romantic dining experience, and the ceremony took place in the loggia with a warm pink glow. We loved the ceremony arbor with draping white fabric, candles, and rose petals.  The chairs for the ceremony were accented with rhinestone and pink ribbons.  They were surrounded by loving friends and family and it was truly a beautiful sight.

The couple loved the snow, and there was plenty on hand for them. They were so excited to go outdoors and take some beautiful pictures, even in the freezing cold they were so happy and in love!  Melissa insisted on going out to the terrace for that shot of them in the snow and then said “now you have an epic winter wedding shot for your books!” That we do! It was such a pleasure being able to celebrate with them.

Roberson owns an pasta sauce business called Michaud’s Pasta Sauce. As favors, they provided each guest with a can of sauce and bow tie pasta as a symbol of them “tying the knot”.

Featured Wedding: Kara and Kevin 10/19/14

One of the great things about a Wadsworth Mansion wedding is that no two are the same.  Kara and Kevin were such a fun, colorful couple with great ideas and little personal touches that transformed this mansion into the perfect setting for their day.  A lego Coast Guard ship as a nod to their connection of the Coast Guard with a rubber duck bride a groom that what greeted guests as they arrived. Vibrant hues of blue and purple were used all over the mansion to bring Karas flair of color into our neutral interior. A wonderful time was had by all as the happy couple were surrounded by friends and loved ones. We are so happy that they decided to share the day with us!

Featured Wedding: Kelsey and Andrew 12/13/14

We are in the spirit of the holidays and thought it would be nice to share something merry and bright with all of you.  Kelsey and Andrews wedding is the perfect way to do that! They picked a very cool date for their wedding… the last sequential date of the 21st century!  With such a memorable date for a wedding, the celebration had to live up to its reputation.  And it sure did!

The mansion was all decked out in holiday decor which Kelsey was happy to incorporate into her wedding.  We don’t see many winter weddings here at the mansion but when we do, we wonder why there aren’t more.  What is more romantic than an intimate gathering with family and friends at a beautiful historic house with roaring fireplaces, twinkling lights, the glow of candlelight, and a newly married couple cozying up on the dance floor?  They had some wonderful winter touches with a hot chocolate bar, personalized Christmas ornaments as guest favors, and a beautiful color palette of whites, golds, gray, and creams to accent the decor that surrounded them.

The couple was married in Clinton, CT and took photos in the surrounding areas before arriving at the mansion for their evening reception of cocktails, dancing, and merriment.  The day was beautifully photographed by Ashley Caroline Photography and catered by David Alan Catering.  Enjoy a glimpse into the lovely details of a winter wedding at the Wadsworth Mansion.  Congratulations to the happy couple!  We were so honored to share in the joy of your day.

Featured Wedding: Larissa and Martin 8/30/14

Larissa and Martin were destined to have an awesome wedding.  When you take into account that the weather that day was perfect, that Larissa thought out every minute detail, and the couple brought the most fun group of people to celebrate – things fell into place flawlessly.  Lets start with the details.  The gray, coral, and gold accents complimented this late summer wedding with that perfect pop of color to our lush green surroundings. A delicious tower of cupcakes and initialed heart shaped cookies at every place setting were unforgettable sweet treats for the guests and the little touches Larissa put here and there all over the mansion, that turned a grand historic mansion into her big historic home for the day.  Take a look at the love, laughter, and fun captured by J. Fiereck Photography.  Congratulations to Larissa and Martin!  We were so happy to host your wedding at the mansion and wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Featured Wedding: Lisa and Kevin 8/23/14

Lisa and Kevin had a beautiful and incredibly fun wedding at the mansion in late August.  They were very meticulous in their planning and it really paid off as every detail from the three decorated cakes, to the tennis pavilion where they transformed their ceremony space with a curtain of hanging flowers and crystals (designed by the talented Sharon Elizabeth Florist), to the tent that was beautifully strung with lights.  It was just stunning!  Lisa and Kevin were such a unified couple when planning their wedding; they worked together to create a celebration that perfectly reflected who they were.  The entire day was beautifully captured by Kris Rae Photography and we particularly liked how he captured Lisa and Kevins “first look” in the trees on the east side of the vista.  Take a look at the photos to see what we mean 🙂

On another note, Lisa had the most adorable ring bearer who not only shined throughout the day with the biggest smiles but kept up with the grown-ups with his dance moves!  He was so much fun, that we had to include a few photos of him as well.

Congratulations to the happy couple and thank you for hosting your wedding with us!  We were honored to be part of your special day!

Featured Wedding – Sarah and Joshua 8/15/14

When Sarah arrived at the mansion for her tour, she told us she was looking for the perfect venue for a Disney princess Cinderella wedding.  The moment she walked through the door, her eyes lit up and she knew this was the place for her.  From then on, Sarah was known to us as our “princess bride” and boy, did she deliver!  Sarah and Josh were such a wonderful couple to work with.  They were so in love and just so happy to be getting married that all of the details and planning were just icing on the cake.  Congratulations to Sarah and Josh on the beginning of your happily every after!

Featured Wedding: Linnea and Joey 6/21/14

Linnea and Joey were married at the mansion on a lovely June day.  Everything from the beautiful color palette of powder blue bridesmaid dresses, to the quiet hues of white, peach, and blush was planned impeccably by Linnea and her planner Lindsay at Sixpence for Your Shoe.  Their day was filled with love, laughter, and surrounded by their friends and family, they exchanged vows on the vista and then danced the night away in a Sperry Tent on the terrace.  Everything was captured beautifully by Michelle Gardella Photography and it was just too pretty not to share with you all!  Congratulations to Linnea and Joey!  Thank you for sharing your special day with us!
