NEWLYWED QUICK 10: Megan & Brett

It’s time for another installment of our newest blog series — The Wadsworth Mansion Quick 10 Quiz — in which a recently married couple answers a series of rapid fire questions recalling their wedding day.  Game for the challenge were a pair who are just beyond their first anniversary, and who chose to respond individually which resulted in some cute and very “married” differences in memories…  In addition to answering the quiz, they provided us with their favorite photo from their big day.  See the responses and photo below:

Wedding Date  April 4, 2016

1.  Length of engagement
Brett: 10 months.
Megan: It was 9 months  : )

2.  3 adjectives to describe wedding vision
Brett: Small, fancy and fun.
Megan: Book-related, antique and large. Guess whose came true…  ; )

3.  Most challenging vendor to find/hire
Brett: There wasn’t one.
Megan: Actually, hiring our ceremony musicians was the most difficult. It took some effort to find someone and then we had to find new musicians just a few weeks before the wedding! It ended up being completely worth the hassle.
     How close to wedding hired?
Megan: 3 weeks Before.

4.  Ceremony location
Both: Wadsworth Tennis Pavilion.

5.  Most surprising thing
Brett: The weather – it was high 70s and sunny in April.
Megan: Not being stressed. Everyone thought I would be a nervous wreck but I was the most relaxed I’d ever been. My best friend was genuinely shocked at my demeanor!

6.  Standout memory
Brett: Again, the weather! It was amazing. Plus, it ended up getting so hot during the ceremony that I thought Megan might pass out  : )
Megan: All of the dancing. I had so much fun dancing all night.

7.  Would you change anything?
Brett: No.
Megan: I wish I would have stopped to take it in more. I was so happy and excited all day that I never had a calm second to just look around.

8.  Wedding hashtag?
Both: #BrettandmegansayIdo

9.  Guests couldn’t stop talking about…
Brett: All of it.
Megan: How similar to my parent’s wedding it was in terms of how much fun they had.

10.  Advice for future couples in 125 characters or fewer
Brett: Don’t stress and have fun.
Megan: Make a list beforehand of all of the things you want to experience… dancing with the kids, a funny picture with your cousins… that way you won’t forget to do anything as it will be in the forefront of your mind.

Featured Wedding: Haleigh and Ethan, October 16, 2016

It was quite an autumn Wadsworth day for quite an autumn Wadsworth wedding…  Accented with watery blues & lilacs, dusty blushes & pinks, and earthy cranberries & pomegranates, the tasteful details gave the event a rich, romantic feel well-suited to the Mansion in this season.  Haleigh and Ethan’s celebration was teeming with excitement and revelry for their sizable guest list, beginning with the signing of the ketubah under a tent on the terrace.  Immediately commencing was a traditional Jewish ceremony by the Tennis Pavilion trellis, followed by an evening full of happy cocktailing, dining, and dancing.  Below is the team of carefully selected vendors that contributed to the success of this momentous occasion and made it happen beautifully:

PureWow Names Wadsworth Mansion Most Gorgeous Venue in CT!

National digital publication PureWow has made it officially official:  The Wadsworth Mansion is the Most Gorgeous Wedding Venue in Connecticut.  And, really, who are we to argue?  Editors whittled down their list to highlight just one venue from each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.

“Featuring 100 acres of beautiful Beaux Arts style, this estate is the former summer home of Colonel Clarence S. Wadsworth.  It’s also the best spot for a quintessential — and totally private — New England wedding.  (Yep, you can splurge on a horse-drawn carriage.)”

Featured Wedding: Dahlia and Zachary – October 3, 2015

Back in early October of 2015, Dahlia & Zachary vowed to love one another in a meaningful ceremony on our terrace overlooking the vista.  The hydrangeas were in full fall effect – a deep, moody mauve, which offset the wedding colors perfectly – as friends and family gathered to help celebrate the occasion.  Our dance floor got a workout from this lively group and we’re sure all that were gathered there are still talking about the festivities.

Featured Wedding: Megan and Brett April 23, 2016

Megan and Brett’s adoration for one another was clear from the beginning.  It radiated through them and extended out from each family member, friend, and guest.  Their ceremony at our tennis pavilion was filled with joy and heart, accentuated by the lovely, warm April sunshine that could very well have been generated by those gathered there.  Pale, dusty pinks and vintage, creamy whites made for romantically inspired details.  Even classically passionate characters (and their books) designated dinner table assignments.  From beginning to end this wedding seemed to be the storybook day that Megan and Brett envisioned.

Featured Wedding: Maddie and Will, May 30, 2015

If a couple was ever genuinely relaxed and effortlessly happy, it was Will and Maddie on their wedding day.  These two let their personalities seep through every detail and moment, making for a one-of-a-kind celebration to remember.  The bright blues and hot pinks matched the vibrancy in the air itself.  Guests enjoyed photo booth shenanigans, celebratory cigars, and party music provided by band GQ and The Lady.  The energy from this night just leaps from the photographs.  We wouldn’t be surprised one bit if Maddie and Will’s guests are still thrilling from the sheer fun of this wedding…

Featured Wedding: Tom and Natalie, July 3, 2015

One year ago today, Tom and Natalie exchanged their vows in front of loved ones from near and far on a picture-perfect late afternoon on the vista.  Their infectious euphoria at becoming husband & wife rippled through each guest’s face, resonating in the notes played by the string quartet and wafting in the gentle breeze.  Invitees marveled at the elegantly blithe flourishes, accented by delicate yellows, brilliant blues, and stately golds.  The classic yet distinctive dressing highlighted the Mansion’s beauty, while also creating a tailor-made backdrop to the couple’s design.   From lawn games and photo booth fun to an exquisitely delicious cake, it seemed these two thought of everything to surprise and delight their friends and family.  With their first dance saved until after dinner, they momentarily broke away only to pull everyone out onto the terrace to join them, where the DJ held the dance floor in hypnotic jurisdiction for the rest of the evening.  If we didn’t know better, we’d swear they’re out there dancing still…  Happy First Anniversary to Natalie and Tom!
