PureWow Names Wadsworth Mansion Most Gorgeous Venue in CT!

National digital publication PureWow has made it officially official:  The Wadsworth Mansion is the Most Gorgeous Wedding Venue in Connecticut.  And, really, who are we to argue?  Editors whittled down their list to highlight just one venue from each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.

“Featuring 100 acres of beautiful Beaux Arts style, this estate is the former summer home of Colonel Clarence S. Wadsworth.  It’s also the best spot for a quintessential — and totally private — New England wedding.  (Yep, you can splurge on a horse-drawn carriage.)”

While we can’t disagree with the accolade, this write up and photo are only the tip of the proverbial iceberg of just how lovely weddings are here.  If you’d like to see all the historic beauty in person, a private tour is but a click or call away.

Celebrating Spring

Although the weather has been a little rainy and gloomy as of late here at the Mansion, it was nothing short of perfection for our annual Daffodil Day event on Sunday, April 24, 2016. We had quite the turn out of visitors and volunteers alike, who enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine with historical tours, guided hikes, and food truck picnicking. Our 1st Annual Daffodil Dash was excellent fun for the teams and spectators alike, with smiling faces, elevated heart rates, and good sportsmanship abounding. Cash Lane Slim’s smooth vocals and guitar wafted through the mansion while Mr. Bungles’ bubbles drifted across the terrace, delighting attendees of all ages. A grand time was had by all, so much so that we almost can’t wait to host Daffodil Day again next year! (But first…wedding season…)

Old Hollywood Glam Photo Shoot at The Wadsworth Mansion

Beautiful Old Hollywood Photo shoot, set on the grounds of the Wadsworth Mansion.

Even on a chilly day in April, with rain in the forecast this photo shoot was bound to be amazing. With the colors, the design, and the setting, the shoot was both exciting and inspirational.

Beginning with a color scheme of Gold, Black and Purple the scene was set by Stephanie Carmody of Tres Chic Events.  With a mix of Old Hollywood elegance and classic touches, every element of this shoot was a perfect compliment to the mansion and grounds.   Dining was staged among the trees where the beauty of nature meets sophistication. The tablescape was accentuated with a suspended chandelier of purple flowers and bouquets by Dragonfly Event. Gold chargers and glassware brought dimension to the display.

The bride exuded elegance in a lace gown that blended flawlessly with the Beaux Art style of the mansion and Dana Bartone and Company gave her the classic Hollywood look. We love it when talented vendors come together to create new and stunningly unique ideas in this space.

We were thrilled to  have this photo shoot take place at the mansion.  It was originally featured on Reverie Gallery and now we are happy share it with all of our readers, enjoy!

Featured Wedding: Larissa and Martin 8/30/14

Larissa and Martin were destined to have an awesome wedding.  When you take into account that the weather that day was perfect, that Larissa thought out every minute detail, and the couple brought the most fun group of people to celebrate – things fell into place flawlessly.  Lets start with the details.  The gray, coral, and gold accents complimented this late summer wedding with that perfect pop of color to our lush green surroundings. A delicious tower of cupcakes and initialed heart shaped cookies at every place setting were unforgettable sweet treats for the guests and the little touches Larissa put here and there all over the mansion, that turned a grand historic mansion into her big historic home for the day.  Take a look at the love, laughter, and fun captured by J. Fiereck Photography.  Congratulations to Larissa and Martin!  We were so happy to host your wedding at the mansion and wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Featured Wedding: Anna and Jimmy 9/13/14

September is one of our favorite months for weddings at the mansion.  The Hydrangeas begin to blush from the changing of the season and the weather is almost always perfect.  Anna and Jimmy had a beautiful celebration where they were able to take advantage of our beautiful surroundings before the rain arrived and then (as we all know how New England weather can be) when the rain stopped, went back out for more photos!

Before heading off to their ceremony at the beautiful St. Sebastian Church that is located right down the road from us, they had their first look out in our Tennis Pavilion.  They wandered around the property to pose in our stunning treelines and down to the bridge by our vernal pool.  We love how they incorporated our natural surroundings into their photos as both are avid hikers and nature enthusiasts.

The day was beautifully captured by Uplift Photography and we are happy to share these photos with all of you!

Congratulations to the happy couple!  Thank you for hosting your wedding at the Wadsworth Mansion!
